Hello people!

Would someone kindly help me with a Japanese pattern? ^_^
I've downloaded some scans & I've been doing fine so far, but today while making a ladybug I've got stuck... The problem is with the head:



It's the oval chart on the left, 2nd from the top. It doesn't begin with the "magic loop" as usual, but has some weird long 1st row that I've never seen before... Can anyone please enlighten me on how to make it? O.O Maybe it's just a magic loop, but not tightened?

I need help with the 1st row only, others seem to be quite clear.

Long time crocheter, first time poster! Unfortunately I don't have anything awesome to show off (yet, anyway), but I come with a question. Where in the heck do you guys get your eyes from?? I live in central NJ, ten minutes away from a Michael's, and I KNOW they don't carry them. There's an AC Moore about 20 minutes from me, but I'd just like to know what you guys do before I start driving around the tri-county area for no reason. (If it helps what I'm talking about, I'm looking to make this guy. I only make small things, so big fancy eyes are pretty unnecessary.) Thanks!
